Something I don't remember noticing on previous listen throughs - the Blackflame trials are said to have been designed for one Lowgold on the BF path and four more Lowgolds on other paths, to act as a sort of bodyguard for the BF artist to do their thing.

More recently, groups of artists without a BF among them also used the Trials to train.

What I don't get is, how did they activate and complete the Trials without BF madra? You have to demonstrate the technique to activate the trial and use the relevant technique to complete at least the second and third trials. I guess the first one can be completed with an enforcement technique from any path.
