Need Living Grandmothers Birth Certificate

Sounds simple right? Wrong 🙄. I applied to DAR. I only needed to prove the first three generations with vital documents. It’s my paternal line so I needed to prove myself to my dad (sent my BC and his DC). My dad to his dad (the DAR line continues through this side, his dad is named on my dad’s DC and I’ve ordered my grandfathers DC from FL). None of that was an issue at all. But. They’ve asked for my mom’s BC and my grandmothers BC or DC. I was able to get my mom’s, without an issue, but the grandmother kind of fell of the face of the earth. I never really knew her. I mean she was a whack job and my dad always kept us away from her. The last time I saw her was about 20 years ago. I’d heard that she’d passed away around 2022 but I can’t find any records stating that’s true. She was born in NYC in 1940. From what I understand, I can only obtain her BC from NY, if she is still living, if I’m her parent or child. Not grandchild. Anybody been through similar or have any thoughts on how I ca. get around this??

Mayflower and the American Revolution

I’ve been researching our families genealogy since around 2002 or so. My father never knew his biological father and in his early 40s realized what a waste that had been. Ultimately, in 2005, I was able to find them and reconnect them. They were able to build and have a relationship until my grandfather passed in 2011.

On that initial journey, I found out that we were descended from William White of the Mayflower! That was years ago and I never really found anything else, until about a month ago. I have since found 6 other great grandparents from the Mayflower, Richard Warren included, all from my paternal line. Just last week, I found that my maternal line also descends from Richard Warren through a second child! My dad’s family is originally from NY/NJ and my moms family is from MS!

I’ve also discovered 10 Revolutionary War Patriots, all from my paternal line. It seems really far fetched. Is this even possible??
