Grocery prices in Inuvik, NWT.

My last post regarding prices in Ulu got a lot of traction, thought I would show you guys what it’s like in Inuvik. $350 for 22 items. One of those items is a bag of dog food which cost $100, so really it’s more like $250 for 21 items.

We usually do a “bigger” haul like this once a week and then stop in at the grocery store another time or two for a smaller list. Between me and my partner, we spend around $1500 a month on groceries.

Price of pop in Ulukhaktok, NWT.

Goes to show how much more people in remote areas have to pay for essentials like groceries

Edit: Guys, I know pop is not essential. But let’s put our thinking caps on and extrapolate what this example means to the rest of the groceries that people have to buy up here and how much they could possibly cost.

Planning to do the Golden Circle route beginning of September! Any tips/reviews?

Taking two weeks to drive this route, starting in Whitehorse -> Haines Junction -> Haines, AK -> Skagway -> back to Whitehorse.

Planning for first two weeks of September. We know to expect some rain, but hoping for some good weather days for hikes and whatnot.

Would love to hear your experience and recs!

Hello! Going to be road tripping to Skagway/Haines in September and looking for recommendations/weather expectations?

Basically what the title says! I’ve scoped out some local attractions and hikes to do for the few days we are there, but just wondering what to expect for weather for first two weeks of September.

Will the fall foliage be in full swing around this time? Should we expect a lot of rain?

For attractions we’re planning:
- chilkoot and chilkat
- lower Reid’s falls
- gold rush cemetery
- the mt Ripinsky trail

If anyone has any food recommendations also, feel free to post them below!

Thanks in advance
