Was Ariana a Rebound for Tom? Rewatch Observation
Currently on season 5 (TomKat wedding) and for the past couple seasons I haven’t been able to shake the feeling that Ariana was Tom’s rebound from Kristen rather than the girl he left Kristen for. I know they had the make out at the Golden Nugget and were getting closer while Tom and Kristen were still together but I still get the impression that Tom jumped to Ariana because he knew she’d be down and it would hurt Kristen given that Kristen had already been insecure about Ariana. Maybe it’s just the natural progression of a relationship but it seems like once their honeymoon phase ended they had zero chemistry and were just an odd fit. Especially watching this season where the crew goes on the joint bachelor/bachelorette party and Ariana is a groomsman too (groomslady?), it felt like they were barely together let alone in a couply way and some of their interactions are just so awkward. There’s also a scene where they go on a date maybe one or two seasons prior to this one that’s SOO awkward and I chalked it up to them feeling awkward going on a date on tv but that’s literally their job so idk. I kind of wonder if Tom/Ariana was a rebound situation that went on for WAY longer than it should have and got WAY more serious (ie buying a house) than it ever should have. Even if she wasn’t just a rebound this is prob true given how he treated her on her 30th bday and many other reasons. Wondering if anyone agrees about the rebound thing though.
