HI TEAM!! I'm Krys or Sinfonia (any/all), and I've got a fun and interesting game for y'all to apply to today! But before I talk about the mysterious world of Sycormis, or even the Story of the Enigmas (SotE; pronounced so-dee), let's talk real for a bit.

🌧️ Real Talk 🌧️

I, like many of you, have been feeling pretty rough lately, and have grown tired of just feeling "rough" and spending my days doing nothing besides giggling at Tomodachi Life and internet shows, and meditation. And like many of you, knowing that I can type one letter into Google right now and will have 100s of reasons why "the world sucks" is enough to push me away from literally everything good. That's just not gonna work anymore. Not for me, not for you, not for a world struggling through it right now. This campaign? It's a risky premise, and IDK how many of you are down like I'm down for it; but this campaign serves two purposes for me and you, if you're interested: 1. having fun with and making new friends with similar mindsets and skills, and 2. proving that faith and commitment is a POWERFUL thing (its giving cult i fear 😰)

All this being said, I'm not advertising a campaign that is planned from tip to tail (lou-), nor do I have an expansive campaign setting guide that can rival LITERAL PUBLISHED MATERIAL, (IF YOU'VE GOT 200 PAGES OF LORE FOR A WORLD, GIRL! BE PROUD OF THAT!!!) but I've got something that I've wanted to do for so long, but was told "nahhhh... nobody's gonna wanna do that" by that particular orifice in my head that loves to critique everything. The premise: an anthology campaign that witnesses four concurrent adventures.

This campaign is for my improvisational folks out there, theater kids, the ones with hella OCs, CR or D20 fans, those who adore CHAOS (in a fun, not-detrimental-to-other's-mental-health way), and anybody else who just wants to play a game where their actions truly shape the story and the world they play in. If you're still here, then GREAT! Let's talk "qualifications"

🔍 Who am I? 🔍

Again, I am Krys(tal) Sinfonia, a genderfluid, neurodivergent, mixed, tired, 21-year-old pixie (i am 6'4 i fear) who has been playing D&D since the last valid reason to stay inside as much as I do now (2020). I consider myself to be somebody who loves acting and collaborative storytelling, with most of my screen time (shamefully) being spent watching Dropout and that one show with the d20 as the logo--I've been watching the fourth 'season' i think its called, and find the Seekers to be my favorite party for reasons I think will be obvious... I'm also very, very (lonely) queer, and love telling stories where hot people are doing crazy things for the world. Now as much as I truly love writing and playing games, I have been cursed with an affliction (anxiety) that really makes it hard to step outta my comfort zone without immense preperation; and this campaign would be the fourth game I've ever advertised on Reddit, though the first time I've tried not to do a "linear campaign" (one where the progression is roughly established.)

This is the first time I've DM'd in a while, though I promise you that I have a solid idea of what I am doing behind the DM screen :D . In the years that I've been playing D&D, I found that most of my time was spent being a guide through a world I spent months daydreaming about, and hours writing about like any good DM would. And while I know how to DM enough to be able to make ___ Homebrew rules, there has always been anxiety with insisting that I have to know what I am doing and cannot fall back if I need to do so; so for this campaign, I wanna make it clear that I am focusing my efforts on making a fun story and game, but ultimately have no clue where this game is gonna go in the end. If that doesn't turn you off (please don't tell me if I did the opposite- 💀), then let's talk about the campaign(s?).

📖 The Story of the Enigmas 📚

Morelys is a continent on the plane Sycormis, one where many have fallen comfortable with the almost-peaceful state of the world they live in. Not after what many Morelysians have dubbed the "Disturbance", for people known as "Enigmas" have started acting on their ambitions and disrupting the peace everyone has grown accustomed to. Maleficers and their Mortamata in Gildrus, the attacks of the Daunting Umbra in The Sanctuary, the uncleared and festering Spires of Dread in Ira-Gladi, and the rise of many weary souls seeking respite in the chaotic Chromatic Glade are just a few examples of problems no doubt caused by malevolent "Enigmas". Those who do not bear an "Enigmatic Gift" will not restore the peace, no matter how much they try; it's gonna take fire to fight fire, but it would foolish to presume that the only burning flames are found in one of these countries, or that only one endeavor will save Morelys from entering an Age of Disruption.

This is where you come in! You and five others will be following any one of the Four Paths at a time. Paths--not like a primal path--follow a similar format to C4 of that show of Critical acclaim (critical role, if it's not obvious 💅🏽); arcs that have a particular theme and follow a different party from the others. Check out the following paths, consider which one, two, or three is most interesting to you, and if you are still paying attention, write a fictional character you're crushing on in the last question of the first interview form:

• 🌸 The Path of Hopeful Dawn // healing, change, journeying 🌸 The Path of Hopeful Dawn is for those healing spirits who want to make the world a better place by ridding it of those malevolent forces. Through patience, wisdom, seldom combat, and confrontation of those evils that may even linger within themselves; these Enigmas will go down in Sycormisian history as saints, heroes, bringers of peace and unity. Choose this party if you want a feel-good story that is about finding and cultivating hope in even the most dire of circumstances.
• 🔥 The Path of Burning Noon // action, combat, conflict 🔥 The Path of Burning Noon is for those who care little about continuity, and want an action-driven, conflict-heavy adventure. Enigmas who follow this path will seldom take no for an answer, as their drives are the fuel for a truly unforgettable series of chaotic, glorious events. Choose this party if you seek to have that (somewhat) traditional D&D experience of fighting monsters, gaining loot, and likely getting yourself into something that'll require more than diplomacy to get out of--if you're that daring to find an out~
• 🗡️ The Path of Hidden Twilight // disruption, grey morality, vigilante heroism 🗡️ The Path of Hidden Twilight is for those who seek to act on behalf of, or as one of the many "unseen hands" making things work behind-the-scenes. To these Enigmas, it's not about how it gets done, the question is: "what needs to be done?" Choose this party if you want to play in adventures that may start from hunting unassuming bounties and challenging morals, and grow into an epic quest of taking down those who seek ruin above all else.
• 👁️ The Path of Accursed Night // curses, the occult, against all odds 👁️ The Path of Accursed Night is not for the faint of heart, for it spotlights a grim curiosity those foolish or thrill-seeking wanderers of the night desire to satiate. These Enigmas have done something wrong, taken a wrong turn on this journey of life, and have found themselves with more questions than answers, more problems than solutions. Stationary intentions are not the out for these adventurers, for in order to make it out of the dark, you have to take those first steps into it to learn why you are so drawn to it. Choose this party if you want to scratch that "dark" itch inside of you, and allow the investment in shadow to truly heal you.

🪴 Housekeeping 🪴

Just before I let you apply to this campaign, let's summarize this post and specify other important things to note.

• All is welcome at my table, though I warn you now: I have a camp sense of humor and speech (I'm not bouta laugh at a literal travesty, as you'll find out in the forms, but bobs are enough to make me gag, sisterly.)
• Accommodations: We will absolutely use safety tools, and welcome open communication. If you need something for the game, or need me to do something less (within reason), I'll accommodate. I may giggle every now and then, but I promise that I care about making this fun for everyone present (including you 💛)
• Player Count: Six Players + me :D
• Experience: This game does use a "modified 5e system", so all I ask is that you have a loose understanding of how to play D&D, and comfort learning new mechanics for the game. (also, be ready for some wild rulings of cool from me // i use mechanics for the story like hella 🤗)
• Platform: Discord server / DiceParser (😡 avrae) / idk what to use for maps just yet, but feel free to give suggestions in the form <3
• Scheduling: ~4 hour sessions / Fridays + Weekends (whichever day is most convenient, or if our "silly' "selves" will want to play back-to-back) @ 6:00 PM (MST) / Weekly
• Character Sheets: use whatever you want, just gimmie a copy of what you're using to record stuff (unless it's locked behind a paywall, we're 🔥)
• Session 0: the form closes on Sunday, aiming for the 15th or 17th of May to host this session
• ADULTS ONLY (21+): this is intended for mature players, even if I am immature sometimes.
• (N)PC x/vs (N)PC Dynamics: Don't make me regret this (or do 🤭), but so long as you behave yourselves, keep it in-game and M Rated at most ("X" to me means gratification-territory, not mentions of a mature subject. look we're nerds, but let's use our brains to find other methods of "participation" 😅), I'm cool with whatever relationships you wanna develop. Just know that this is a space where you can commit to the bit, and not be held accountable (unless you are dancing a little too close to the edge, fedora.) We're all here to have fun, being mean is ironic. (reread that)
• Player-Introduced Homebrew: I am going to make homebrew for this game, and I will absolutely allow you to do the same or bring in homebrew from other sources. Lemme know in advance, and try to avoid setting-specific homebrew
• AI-Generated Content: No. None of it. End of discussion :)
