GEC help!!

Hi guys, I've been working at Panera since January, and I need some help. We rolled out the new GEC role a few months ago (probably March or late feb?), and I was told by my management that although I was their first pick for the new role (since apparently to them I'm the best cashier), that I COULDN'T be a GEC because my hours are very short. Now, flash forward to today (and the past month), I walk in and see myself fully scheduled as a GEC. Mind you, I don't have the fancy GEC name tag like a lot of other people at my store do, so I wanted to know if this is kind of concerning or if it's just something to shrug off? I've never worked in food before, so I don't know if a server role like this is extremely important or not.
