Doctor can't find strings during check, ultrasound a month away

Just had my annual check and it's been about eight months since insertion of the Mirena IUD. The doctor couldn't feel the strings. They don't have ultrasounds available until a month and a half away.

I searched the subreddit and found a lot of stories of strings that just curled out of the way (which hopefully is my case too), but most of the time, they get ultrasounds pretty soon. Should I try to get one sooner at an urgent care or wait? Should I not have sex until they check me out?

I have no pain, no periods since insertion, only spotting after sex. Any advice appreciated!
