Sooo in February one of my teeth was abscessed. I had a fever, chills, and I was super low energy without knowing why. Well eventually I got a large blister by one of my teeth and I called AJay Mehta who did some X-rays for me before an extraction that I got elsewhere. I call them and they were unable to see me that day so I went to the ER to get antibiotics. I went in to their office later that week, got some X-rays and more meds and was told to make an appointment for a root canal. I was quoted quite a lot. It was $3400 for one root canal, and my insurance covered most of it but I would be left with a $1160 bill which isn't small change for one tooth seeing as how all four of my wisdom tooth extractions cost about $300.00 all together. I told them i would make another appointment when I had a down payment. I signed the receipt and left I saved for weeks, awhile feeling like garbage and ran into yet another abscess. I ended up needing more emergency dental attention. Today I finally got the procedure done after talking to the billing people and then was charged THEEE TIMES THE AMMOUNT I AGREED UPON. This isn't even taking the other tooth into account. I'm just wondering if there is another dentist that won't bankrupt me that people know of and if anyone has any advice on how to handle the remaining fees because I am not going to be able to pay it. If they charged me a certain amount and I signed something saying I would pay a certain amount, how do I deal with them trippling the price?
