Explaining differences
My 3yo daughter has a friend at daycare who’s on the spectrum. Sometimes she asks questions like why he doesn’t talk yet or why he sits in a high chair, and I usually explain that everyone is different and learns differently kind of like how her 1-year-old sister doesn’t talk yet either, but she still plays with her.
What I’m struggling with is when she notices that he does things she would normally get in trouble for, like throwing food or screaming, and asks why it’s “ok” for him but not for her. I’m not really sure how to explain that in an age-appropriate way without making it sound unfair or like different rules apply for no reason.
