Feeling guilty about moving closer to college

myquals I’m a 2nd year CSE student and I’m confused about whether I should move closer to college with my friends.

Right now my commute is around 90 minutes one way, so I waste almost 3 hours daily traveling. Moving would reduce it to around 15 minutes and probably help my academics, routine, and social life.

The problem is I live with my elderly grandparent and when I told my family about moving, there was a lot of emotional guilt around “leaving family behind.” Now I feel really conflicted.

Another issue is that my CGPA isn’t great right now and I’ve been procrastinating a lot lately, so part of me is scared that even if I move, I might waste the extra time instead of improving myself.

I’m also someone who gets affected very easily by other people’s opinions and guilt, so making decisions like this becomes mentally exhausting for me.

People who’ve been in similar situations, how did you decide between family responsibility and doing what’s better for your own future?
