Maybe no. But anyway, here’s a picture.

The rear derailleur was making a bit more noise after my last visit at the bike shop a few months ago. I assumed it was something they put on the new chain or just the cogs finally being clean, haha.

Anyway, I was going to take off the chain for some cleaning of the drivetrain today and I noticed this part rubbing up against the chain.

Doesn’t seem right to my amateur brain. Or is it there to guide the chain? Looks like it has seen some hammering or something due to the scratches on top as well.

EDIT: alright thanks so much for the instant responses! I was about to start hammering the plate outwards haha. I’ll get it on the right way!

I must have put the chain incorrectly on after my first time cleaning it this spring around the same time I had my LBS work on it. I hereby withdraw the blame implied towards my precious LBS 😅
