I got my CHP (CCW at that time) back in 2009 in Richmond, and life happened between then so I didn’t renew it for some time and it expired.
Because of that, the courthouse threw out my permit (despite telling me they don’t…). As a result, I took the course over again in late February.
I filed my permit at the John Marshall Courthouse on March 5. It has now been nearly 60 days (the Richmond gov website says they must respond in 45 days) with not a word from them.
According to what I am reading, I can go to the courthouse and have them issue me a temporary permit since they have yet to respond to my application.
My question for this community is what luck anyone in my position has historically had in attempting this. I paid my application fee cash, and I am sure I have the receipt somewhere, but thinking I’ll probably need to track that down as I entirely expect to not have this issue resolved if I go down there and just assume they’ll have a copy of my application on file.
This is not a political statement, but I’ve been in Richmond City since 2008 and the municipal government has always been wildly incompetent and apathetic to this day. Just going down there during work hours is very difficult for me, so I would really like to do whatever I can to try to ensure I waste as little time and effort as possible getting this rectified.
