6 months of potty training and still will not self initiate going pee
Our son has been “potty trained” since April of this year. He is now 34 months old (will be 3 in December) and we are still having issues with him self initiating, but for pee only! Strangely enough he never has poop accidents and will tell us he has to go.
He will pee on the toilet or potty if we tell him to but will not self initiate. He will tell us he has peed his pants or if he has let a little bit out and his underwear is a bit wet and then we take him to the potty to finish up. I cannot figure out how to get him to self initiate.
I’ve tried prompting less and that hasn’t worked. We have tried rewards, we have bought cool underwear that he picked out, make him put his dirty clothes in the laundry basket and change into new clothes etc.
I’m at my breaking point. Please if anyone has any ideas or has experienced this please let me know.
Fyi - he still wears a diaper at bed time. He doesn’t nap anymore. We did the Oh crap model back in April.
