Did Anthropic Completely Change the Limits Again?
Yeah, I know, yet another post about limits… but lately I genuinely can’t make sense of what’s going on, so I’ll try to summarize what I’ve been noticing.
A few days ago Anthropic announced the doubling of the 5-hour limit. Testing it, the difference was definitely noticeable: I could work much longer without hitting rate limits. But in practice, that just shifted the bottleneck to the weekly limit instead.
Then, a few days later, Anthropic also announced that the weekly limit would be doubled for a limited time. And that’s when things started to feel completely absurd: just to test it, I ran 4 agents simultaneously and neither the 5h limit nor the 7-day limit seemed to move at all. This was on Thursday and Friday (May 14–15).
Then came the “generous” limit reset offered by Anthropic during Friday/Saturday night… and suddenly everything changed again. Now my 5-hour limit gets consumed insanely fast. To the point where, even if I fully saturated every single 5h window, I probably still wouldn’t manage to exhaust the weekly limit.
So what is actually happening here? Am I the only one noticing that the rules seem to change almost daily at this point?
I’m a Pro subscriber and, even though limits have always existed, I never really complained because I was always able to stay within them by continuously optimizing my workflow over time. That’s exactly why it’s hard for me to believe that the issue is suddenly my usage pattern.
