Is a rough start normal within the UN?

I just started my new role as a national officer a few weeks ago, and honestly, I feel like I have been doing absolutely everything wrong. I am overthinking every single interaction, every email, and every task.

I’ve spent almost a decade working in government, so that’s pretty much the only professional environment I’ve known. I’m trying to remind myself that I’m new and that nobody can reasonably expect me to understand an entirely different culture and system within a few weeks at the same time it feels like I am expected to have picked things up quite quickly.

For those who have experienced this or something similar:

  1. How long did it take you to feel comfortable?
  2. What helped you learn the unwritten rules and dealling with imposter syndrome?

How to prepare for an NPP interview?

Hi All,

I recently got the email informing me that I have an in person interview for a national specialist role at FAO which is coming up in a matter of days. For those who have held or do currently hold national positions, may you kindly share your interview experiances and tips please, especially on how you got over the nerves and how you prepped. I am currently reviewing the vacancy, mainly the core competencies, tasks and responsibilities. Also formulating examples I can provide in my answers,.

This is my very first UN interview and my whole body turns to jelly just thinking about it. Any help will be appreaciated.

Sorry if this may seem like a repetetive question, i mostly found interview tips based on P level interviews and would appreacite NPP experiences.
