Does anyone know how to add a gain knob alongside the volume that controls the normal channel? That way the gain knob controls how hard the tube gets pushed and the volume would act as a "master volume" of sorts This layout has the extra tube slot and it seems doable.

PS. I posted this same question yesterday and deleted it. I kind of got in my own head after a couple of sarcastic responses. Honestly I'm building this amp as my first one because I got a broken DRRI and a bunch of parts that will work. I'm not gonna build a 5e3 into a DRRI chassis. That would be kind of a waste of space and i'd have to go buy more parts. I also don't have the money to pay someone to put everything together for me. The parts are at my house so, i gotta try and do it myself. Sorry I'm not made of money (seriously, some of you talk about amps and amp work like it's all super easy to afford. Not everyone can, which is why they end up in spaces like this.

Why not give a safety recommendation rather than saying "hope you don't kill yourself" or acting like resolving to try is the same as being too arrogant to listen to folks with more experience than you? Give a helpful rec, explain why something is more work than it's worth. I can't hurt you for not thinking something is a good idea, so no one needs to defend their view in a condescending way. I'm building my first amp from parts and following the Rob Robinette layout i shared here. I feel like it's an okay project to try as a first build, given that I have all the parts i need already. It all seems pretty straight forward and simpler to build with the trem deleted. SO i thought I'd be adventurous and try to turn the normal channel into something more fun and interesting. I've been looking into the the dumble skyline eq with an added gain knob for the normal channel . I did a quick google search and it spit out this process for using the spare V5 tube slot from the tremolo. Another search gave me some notion of what components will be required to build the skyline eq into an amp.

I figure that i can swap the parts from the normal channel tone stack with the ones in the list google gave me. I'm gonna drop jack 2 on the normal channel in favor of a gain knob and put the bass and mid controls on a dual concentric 500k/250k pot.) My main question is:

Does anyone have a layout for adding the gain knob? These instructions make SOME sense, but I'm a far more visual person and a layout of some kind would help. Beyond that, Google is a helpful but dangerous thing and i'd rather conform the process with another person who is more knowledgeable or has experience doing this sort of Dumble mod to a AB763 circuit. I'm in no rush and It's a DIY project that I'm planning to build on an eyelet board. I'm not gonna be dealing with any PCB drama, it's not a vintage amp. I've resolved to give this a go so Please, I don't need to be told not to try it. It's a perfect why not scenario. Any layouts or guidance on making more sense of the instructions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I have a few questions about modding my amp. I want to remove the low impedance jack from the vintage channel. I know something about the orientation of the 68k resistors in the r14 and 13 slots needs to be different but am having trouble figuring out what to do so that I just have one functioning high impedance jack.

The second thing I was curious about was adding a presence control. I know I have to change the NFB resistor and the NFB tail resistor, but is it essential that I change the PI tail resistor if the value is only meant to change by 4k?
