Model No. 3 Paint Thickness Woes

Third model in my adult years. I really struggled with this one and didn’t feel like I gave it justice, considering it’s an old kit - JASDF 60th Anniversary F-15J by Hasegawa.

Missed some gaps and paint was too thick on the white parts and top of the model - so much so, I lost my pre-shading (again). Under carriage was much better. Struggled with the large decals too. Just feel it’s a bit rough/rugged. F18 next which has a similar paint scheme. Been practicing/researching airbrush usage and will take my learning on to that one.

When hand painting small parts which have two or more colours I struggle with delineating the edge. So, take this wheel. What ends up happening is a paint the white, then the black. The black creeps on to the white a bit so I touch up with white which then creeps on to the black. And around I go. Any advice or training techniques? (Ignore the heave weathering)
