Why I think "Hear Me Roar: The Lannisters and the Westerlands in the War of the Ring" works so well.

This has to be one of the best crossover ever. It explores and mixes two franchises that should be mixed more often (I'm genuenely surprised most crossovers are with Harry Potter)

It's an amazing read. And I have just realized something about it.

It's about Christian redemption. Why the Lannisters? They even mention it directly "There is a man called Stannis Baratheon, a fierce commander from what we know, why the Lannisters and not someone else?"

Because, in a very Tolkien way, here they have a chance to redempt even their blackest sins. "When they were kids they wanted to become kinghts of legend. Then they grew up and forogot that... but when they see you, they believe again"

What I'm trying to say (I'm at work and english not my native language) is that I think this fics success because it reconciles the "cynism" present in many asoiaf characters and give it a shot of redemption, in a way the good hearted Tolkien would be proud of.

The infamous Lannister have the chance to be heroes of song, will they acchieve it?

(Spoilers Published) Personal experiences that made you understand better the series?

For example, my mom was widowed when I was young, so every Catelyn chapter in ACOK onwards was like a stab in the chest.

Also, I'm an only child and read the series in 2013, way before meeting my wife. The Baratheon brothers were my favorites.

After meeting my wife, I could understand the scope of their tragedy. My wife had to basically raise her youngest sister. Just then I could grasp how betrayed Stannis must have felt when Renly sided with the Tyrells (and a rereading made me finally fully understand how much he misses his brothers).

Sorry if this comes across as too personal. I just find it curious how certain experiences can give you a different perspective on what happens in the books.

How would a Gargoyles crossover work?

I'd like to begin by saying I never watched the series (save a few random episodes on a fuzzy TV, perks of being from LatAm).

So I was watching the first episode (like, right now) and I just remembered that Dragonstone is full of gargoyles... and my mind raced.

If you have watched the series, do you think this could work? Maybe Aegon V or Stannis summons them while trying to bring back dragons? How would they interact with the cast and politics? (I assume they are used to some savagery, considering the first enemies they face are Vikings, so they have probably seen pillaged towns.) By the way, if there's content from Gargoyles with more violence, like comics or fanfics, feel free to share them.

Thanks in advance!
