9-5 engine swap

Hi, I just picked up another 9-5 since I blew the motor on my original one. This one’s a Aero, however it’s automatic and has a decent amount more rust. And the interior is also not in the best condition.

I’m thinking to just take the motor out of this one and swap it into my other car. Same color silver 9-5 but a linear
but near perfect body and perfect interior, plus it’s already set up for a manual. I’d swap over the Aero body kit and interior

I wanted to ask, is it possible for me to swap over the rear heated seats?

Is it easier for me to pull this auto engine out of the top?

And then for the manual I was planning on dropping the entire subframe, removing the engine off of it and then placing this engine after being refreshed onto the subframe mounting the flywheel and clutch, and raising it all back into my original car

Or should I just attempt to pull the manual engine out the top too

Wiring harness removal 9-5

Does anyone know how to remove the main engine wiring harness? I know all the engine and trans connections and where the ECU is located, but where does it connect to the interior? Do I have to remove the dashboard?

Manual swap 9-5

Hi guys, I’m purchasing another 9-5😂
What a surprise
It’s going to be a 9-5 Aero wagon, but it’s unfortunately going to be an automatic
I have a full 9-5 manual parts car
How difficult will it be to manual swap it? Has anyone done this swap in here?

I know I have to swap over shifter, linkage, (I’ve heard I need to switch key too?) transmission, clutch/flywheel, obviously master and slave with the clutch line, the entire pedal assembly, transmission mount, and then I’m thinking of swapping entire wiring harness over instead of splicing lines for neutral switch, reverse light, etc
Any tips? Something I’m missing?

I’m thinking this will be a full weeks straight of work as long as I have all the parts

Is it worth it to upgrade to a TD04HL19T? Saab 9-5 2.3T

Not planning on doing the rods or pistons or even pushing past 300HP, but was considering upgrading due to an aging TD04HL15T, and thinking it would spool it faster.
Not looking to boost it until it explodes though, so is it maybe worse if I do upgrade?

Removing motor 9-5 manual

Looking to drop the motor to do some work
(Timing chain cover, clutch, poly bushings)
How difficult is it to do without a lift?
Ive got the jist of it, disconnecting all the hoses and wires, shift linkage and steering linkage, axles
top, side and rear mount and then just dropping the subframe with everything in it

Anyone have any suggestions? Things that would make it easier to do in my driveway? A way to lower everything with two jacks on each side possible? Anything big that I need to be worried about? What else I should replace while I’m in there?

Tuning

Is Saab tuner Scott still around? If not where can I get a tune for around the same price that he offers?

Connecting rod bolts b235R

Doing a rod bearing job on another 9-5 that I picked up.
Usually when doing these jobs you replace the connecting rod bolts because they’re Torque to yield

part no 90467192

However there is literally no more of these out there anywhere.
What do I do? Am I just gonna have to throw aftermarket rods and pistons in just because of these bolts?

Type of oil?

So, up until about 3 months ago FCPeuros Saab oil kits came with 10w-40. I used this for maybe 2 oil changes and while I don’t notice much difference I do know that it is supposedly better for high mileage engines.
My Saab 9-5 only really has about 120k miles so nothing crazy where it would be needed

FcpEuro switched their kits to liquimoly 5W-40 with different additives.

Should I just go back to 5w-40? Or keep buying this 10w-40 especially since it’s getting pretty hot out?

Edit: they actually switched it to 0w-40🤔

Tuning using T8suite 9-5

Hi, thinking about tuning my car myself using t8suite

How difficult is this and is it worth the hassle?
I’ve done a little bit of research and some videos make it seem like I have to rewire everything and add pins to my obd port
And others just say I need a OBDlinkSX cable and T7suite/Canflasher to load up a tune

Edit: T7suite*

New B235R head swap

Hey guys, I made a couple old posts about how I thought I blew my motor and I found that I bent the valves and wanted to give a update to anyone who cares😅
I have a 2002 Saab 9-5 Wagon (linear)
TD04 turbo and 3 inch straight pipe, intake
Pulled the head and bent the exhaust valves because I floated them
decided it was cheaper to replace the whole head
My first time doing major engine work like this but I followed all accordingly to the Saab WIS and it started up this afternoon thank God
I appreciate everyone’s help in the process

Replacing head B235E

I’ve decided since I burnt through my exhaust valves that instead of a full rebuild I’m going to buy another head and slap it on
Any advice? Is the B235R heads stronger than B235E or all the same? Any pointers on the removal and install?

Blew my motor?

Saab 9-5 2.3T Linear

Was driving last night on the highway, pushing the car hard.
Accidentally moneyshifted but pushed the clutch in right away, and put it into fourth
Car started popping like crazy and then low oil pressure sign came on and car shut off

Crank but won’t start, got no compression
Did not blow a hole thru the block because there’s still oil in the dipstick,
Don’t think I blew a headgasket, coolant is clean and full
Thought it was originally timing chain, but after taking off valve cover it is attached and tight

No compression, all 4 cyls crank and spin.

Running a TD04 swap and catless 3in downpipe, but didn’t tune it so it for sure was running hot

I’m thinking best case scenario I burnt my valves and need to rebuild head

Worst case I need new pistons and valves

Let me know what you guys think and how I should try to diagnose more

Where can I get an affordable tune?

Hi, this is my 2002 Saab 9-5 Linear wagon, I bought the car with intentions of making it a complete aero clone (suspension, dashboard, seats, TD04 Turbo, etc)
I recently swapped a TD04HL15 into it replacing the original Garrett turbo, I also installed a full 3 inch Becker performance down pipe (catless)

It had 100k miles when I bought it and I went through all maintenance as well, running liquimoly 10w-40

The car will now prematurely open the wastegate and dump all the boost around 4800RPM, and does bog on a cold start
Sounds amazing in my opinion, I just know it can run better obviously because stock it is only tuned for 185hp

I’m looking for around 280, whatever is a safe area to still be daily drivable

I went to SaabTunerScotts website but he hasn’t gotten back to me and I wonder if he still is doing this kind of thing, or I’m just an impatient asshole

My other option was to just buy a stock Aero ECU and marry it to the car
