I am very disappointed in the way my nose turned out. Yes it’s still swollen and I am aware it will look narrower after the swelling goes down, but I am still deeply distressed about it.
I’m glad I got the surgery because my severe underbite ruined my life since I was 8 years old. (Literally haven’t smiled publicly except to doctors, nurses & family since the age of 8, created horrible mental illnesses, bullying, etc).
My doctor and I discussed Pre-Op about doing an alar cinch and he agreed to make it as small as he could (best for me and legally). I should be patient, but unfortunately I am not in a good mental state after my DJS gave me genuinely the worst experience post op and now I’m stressed about my nose.
I know people will comment on my age and say I shouldn’t think about stuff like this but as someone who has put appearance as top their whole life because of their severe deformity, I can’t quite get over it. I’m thinking of getting a Alarplasty ASAP after healing. Please share your experience with your nose PO and advices for me.
I am not trying to make anyone insecure about their jaw. But if you grew up with a severe underbite, crossbite or overbite you will understand this. Some people are still accepted by society even with these but I’m talking about the severe cases.
I haven’t smiled to ANYONE publicly, only in doctor/ortho appointments and at home. No one other than that have seen my smile, since I was 8 years of age. I compared myself to my other normal siblings. I wasn’t adored as a kid. I was just a kid that wondered why people, and family treated me differently to my siblings. My uncle looked away disgustingly when I first smiled at him when I was 12 years old. That changed the chemistry in my brain. I hated myself. I hate myself. I compared my smile to a Down syndrome kid when I was just 13. I watched “Wonder” and self inserted. I started abusing my sister because even though she was born without this deformity, she found it amusing when her and her friends bullied me for it in front of my face at the age of 13. That’s when I became violent. I didn’t want to.
But okay delay my surgery again doctors! It’s my fault that I have depended on one day, one surgery to start my life as a normal human being but I can’t change it now. My brain will never see myself as human unless my surgery is done. Please share your experience if your severe case of jaw deformity have ruined your life. And also please share advice because every second I wait for my surgery I just start crying. Thank you.
Just fyi: before you attack me for abusing my sister. I understand. But I was also just a child. Who was being bullied by my own sister after school everyday even though I just spent the whole school day also being bullied. She had everything and my family’s love yet still chose to bully and mock my deformity with her friends in front of me, laughing. How was a mentally ill child who spent their whole childhood unloved by even family members respond to that? The anger took over my body. If I could choose, it wouldn’t be this way. It’s not a flex, or excuse but a reason. What would you do if everyone and everything made you feel subhuman? Your own blood? I’m lucky my attempts failed and my surgery is coming up soon. Or I simply wouldn’t live a life where I am just seen as less than human. My bad if it turned into a rant.
My Double Jaw Surgery is in June and I will have a consult with my Surgeon late May. I want an alarplasty, no, I need an alarplasty. I do not want my nose to get wider if anything I want it smaller. Do I just ask my surgeon about this? How should I bring it up? I know a lot of individuals get an alarplasty with their DJS but I just want good advice for my consult since it’s been 3 years since i’ve had a consult with my surgeon.
What is everyones suggesting to bring it up?.
(My severe underbite has costed alot of deep rooted subconscious self hatred since i was 8 years old which made me genuinely subhuman mind and body. I have been working on my self concept for over a year and it’s gotten WAY better but I don’t wanna fall down again with a new insecurity after surgery.)
