I joined Deloitte three weeks ago as a Python Consultant. Since joining, I’ve been attending internal project interviews, but most interviewers are looking for either:

A Python + Data Engineering stack, or

Python + Experience with React/front-end development

Even after explaining that I’m willing to upskill quickly, I haven’t been selected for any projects yet.

This situation has raised several concerns in my mind:

Should I start applying for opportunities outside the company?

Should I quickly learn React and mention that I have at least minimal exposure to it?

How long can someone typically remain on the bench before it becomes a problem?
