Is there someone same as me who reads word like THE WORD? For example, public instead of "pah-blic" i will say "poo-blic"? Not just because I have an accent or anything, or my race. Its just hard to process it, and say something like that, its really embarrassing even though I know the exact pronunciation, when I talk to people I do the opposite. And also the "island" its really throwing me off, because instead of "eye-land" i will 90% will say "is(ice)-land" because the 10% is in my brain, when I pronounce island its really the "eyeland" not the "is(ice)-land. Please help, what should I do to change it? I dont want to embarrass this in front of my class if ever I got the chances.
