Help with a seized caseback 1955 Bulova

Hello again! I have a new project watch, a 1955 (L5) Bulova automatic I just received in the mail. I know I need to unscrew the retaining ring on the back to the case but boy howdy this thing ain’t budging. I only have that cheap hand case remover we all probably got in a watch kit from Amazon. Up until now it’s done the trick. I tried a little WD-40 but I wanted to know if there are any other tricks before shelling out for a more robust case back opener? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Help with opening a vintage Bulova case back

Hey everybody,

So I just found my stepfather‘s Vintage Bulova Accutron 33160 and I wanna check out the mechanical guts. It looked like it had a standard square notch screw on case back, but as you can see from the pictures, it was actually a silver retaining wheel or a retaining band that screwed out. So now I’m trying to figure out what the next step is whether this is now a pop off case back or if the case back is screwed in has anybody opened one of these?
