Warned customer about flowers, management got mad

I work in floral department. A customer couldn’t decide between lilies and roses (and a few other flowers, but mainly those two). I asked if she had cats and she said yes. I informed her that lilies are extremely toxic to cats so she should not have them in her home. She went with the roses. Management overheard this and said I am “preventing sales” and to stop telling customers this. I’m confused because I am not preventing sales when they go for a different option. Also, it’s not right to put pets in danger just to sell products. Am I wrong for this?

Is this a type of lily?

My cat goes outside (supervised) but I have a bunch of these types of flowers in my yard. Is this a type of Lily that can be poisonous to him? As far as I know, he hasn’t bitten or chewed them.
