The entitlement of Charles expecting credit or charity from others because he considered himself a charitable trustworthy fella, even though these people didnt even know him.
- When the Ingalls first move to Walnut Grove and Charles walks right into The Olsens Merchant and happily expects them to give him credit even though this is their first time meeting. The Olsens explain to Charles that many farmers come through, get credit and then are never seen again. Charles walks out angrily and with an attitude like the Olsens are being selfish for not trusting him.
- Then in the same episode Charles foolishly climbs a tree to untangle a kite and then falls and breaks a couple of ribs. He then gets angry because the person he made a deal with for some money in advance on a job comes to pick up the oxen that Charles put on the line in case he cant get the job done on time. Charles walks to town with a broken rib and sheer anger like he's being victimized and starts moving sacks of grain with his broken ribs, like its all for show. The town steps in to help him. But I cant help but roll my eyes at the show Charles puts on like he's being treated unfairly when he was the one who foolishly climbed that tree and got hurt. Then blames someone who gave him an advance in income with an expectation and property in exchange like that guy is the bad guy.
- Then on the episode where the banker is first introduced. Charles expects the banker to simply give him a loan based off his reputation only. Charles offers a future potential crop as collateral but no bank would ever give a loan for something so unpredictable. Charles walks out angrily and with an attitude, and him and Caroline make fun of the banker on their way back home.
