Acer Nitro V ANV15-51-73B9 randomly crashing
Okay guys. So, I’ve been fighting this issue literally since I bought the darn thing January of 2025. The only reason I haven’t sent it in is because the first thing I did to it was upgrade the RAM so the warranty is voided. I’ve been trying to solve this issue in many different ways in my free time but haven’t really prioritized it as I also have a gaming Pc
The issue at hand: while gaming, doesn’t really matter what it is, and it could be 15 minutes in or 3 hours in, the laptop will crash with green lines across the screen and loud buzzing in the headphones (very much like a memory crash.
Ive upgraded the charger from the factory 135W to a 180W (because after much research, 135W is JUST enough for the cpu and gpu and many people said it could cause issues.
I’ve cleaned off the factory thermal paste (which, when I did this 2 months in, that crap was already completely dried lol) and re-applied some new, better paste.
I’ve ensured constant updating of all drivers including BIOS
I’ve changed cpu, gpu throttles and ram timings using applications (I didn’t go overboard, never went over recommended for the hardware
After all of this, I’ve had a suspicion that it could possibly be a corrupted M.2 drive that fails after it puts itself under a load, but I don’t have much experience with failing SSDs. I tried to install windows onto my 2nd M.2 but it would default to overwriting windows on the first, and I haven’t really messed with it since to just completely remove the first and try it that way. When I get the time I’ll try this and update results
Aside from that, if anyone has any suggestions for me, any would be appreciated. I’d prefer to not take it in for service as the only place I can do that (other than sending it in to acer and getting screamed at for the upgrades and thermal paste replacement by them😂) is Best Buy, and I’m pretty sure they’d just tell me I need a new laptop 🤦🏻♂️
I also don’t have the old ram for testing anymore. If everything else fails, I do have warranty through best buy on the new ram and I’m sure I could just get it swapped out to attempt to see if that’s it
