Gotta love mobile dockets

Feeling like a solicitor in the timberyard trying to force people to “transact at the rack”.

It used to be an average retail job. Why do the people higher up have to force random nonsense KPIs on us?

Low Range DUI - Further Questions (Update Post)

Hello all

Just wanted to share an update and ask further questions regarding my post about receiving a low range DUI. (In Queensland)

Upon further reflection, I’ve decided to not fight for a work/hardship licence, as the inconvenience that comes from having one’s licence suspended is the whole point of the consequence.

My main concern with the process is that I will end up with a criminal conviction on my record. My sister now resides in Canada and from my understanding Canada is incredibly strict when it comes to approving visas. I want to be able to visit her where she lives, and I’m worried this wouldn’t be possible if I had a DUI criminal conviction on my record.

I’ve almost completed the QTOP course and have requested character references from people I’m close to. I’m hoping this proves to the presiding judge that I’m remorseful for my actions and this will be a one time offence.

I’ve consulted with four different law firms and have been quoted, on average, between $2200 and $5000 for representation. This isn’t a cost I can justify. Considering I’m going to plead guilty, is it worth paying this? I’m not looking for a reduced suspension or fine, all I’m going to request from the judge is that the conviction isn’t recorded on my record.

I’m also planning on calling a legal aid clinic to see if I can discuss with/have a duty lawyer present.

Is there anything further I need to or should do before my court date? Thanks again.

Low to Middle DUI - Should I get a Lawyer?

I (25/M) did the stupid thing this past Saturday night and got behind the wheel after having a three (Edit: Three Coopers Red 1.7 standard) beers. First one was at 10pm, last one was at 12.30am. Didn’t have much in the way of food before going out. Started driving home at 3am after a couple glasses of water. Got pulled over on my way and breathalysed, blew 0.09 which is above the general limit (0.05) but below the middle (0.10).

I take full accountability for this and should have stayed at a friend’s place, but as stupid people tend to do I thought I would be fine to drive. Regardless, I now have a court summons and I was wanting to know what my options were.

As far as my traffic history goes, I’ve copped 4 speeding fines between when I got my licence (2019) and today. Other than that, this would be a first time DUI offence. I was planning on taking the QTOP course before my court date next week, as well as getting a letter from my work supervisor stating I’m in need of a licence to drive to and from work.

Was wondering if there was any other advice I could be given before my court date, other than to pull my head in? Thanks.

Edit: Was also wondering if anyone had any experience with pleading guilty online and what sort of difference that makes to the whole process?

Spokane on a Monday?

Hello all

I’m flying in from Australia as I’m intending on visiting Silverwood up in Athol.

My flight gets in on a Monday night in the evening time (around 8pm) and I was curious what I could get up to. I’m a 25 year old man and I love dive bars so realistically that’s where I’d like to end up if I could.

I’m staying by the city center and have already been recommended Mootsy’s. Looking for somewhere that’s ideally cheap and lively for a Monday night.

Thanks so much! I’m excited to visit Spokane.
