Today's Rum Haul

Realized it was Stitch Day (6/26) so had to toss together a fun tiki drink to celebrate everyone's favorite blue gremlin
Experiment 626:
1oz Rhum Agricole Blanc
1oz Wray & Nephew
.75oz Lime Juice
.75oz Blue Curacao
.25oz Falernum
.25oz Cinnamon Syrup
Add everything to a shaker. Shake and strain into a clear rocks glass with a big ice ball. Add some mint garnishes so they look like ears
Im typically not a blue curacao fan but had to make an exception for the theme. If I prepped more I'm sure I could garnish it a bit better. You get a lot of funk from the rums and a punch from the wray to balance out the curacao
Cheers!
Testing out some ideas for a tailgating cocktail to make for a Jack Johnson concert, I felt Banana Pancakes would make a good tiki-ish cocktail

Banana Pancakes:

1 oz Smith & Cross Overproof Rum
1 oz Hamilton Jamaican Pot Still Black
3/4 oz Banana Liquer
3/4oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz maple syrup
2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a old fashioned glass or tiki mug. Garnish with a cinnamon stick

Cheers 🍻

Hi Everyone

Heading to Chicago for a trade show next week. Looking for recommendations on either bars or liquor stores with a good Rum selection. Will be near McCormick Place and Mag Mile. Already heading to Three Dots and a Dash. Thanks!
Hi everyone. Long time lurker and commenter. I realize in the past when replying to comments I typically gravitate torwards the mindset when giving advice that "most IEs wind up in manufacturing". This is from my own personal experience based on people I know from my graduating class several years ago and people I've met along the way in manufacturing. Ive seen a lot of people replying along the way from different industries and roles, and that got me curious. If you could fill out the poll so I can make sure my world view is more accurate that'd be greatly appreciated.
It only lets me add 6 options so if you respond other feel free to comment below
Thanks!
$5 bin at target. Had to christen it with a Jungle Bird. Cheers 🍻
Started my rum journey about 2 years ago. Began as a bourbon drinker and now almost exclusively drink rum. Finally think I've developed a decent enough pallet and wanted to share my 1st review on probably the most obscure rum in my collection (Stole the template form memphisrumclub)
Brand: Walcher
Origin: South Tyrol, Italy
Still: Column (Assumption based on their social media posts)
Age: Not given
Finish: Undisclosed Wooden Barrel
ABV: 40%
Picked this one up on a work trip in a small grocery store in Italy last year and have been nursing it since. I've been seeing Mater pop up a lot and felt this deserved a shout out. Made from Italian sugarcane
Amber, low viscosity
Pineapple, Coconut, Carmel, Tropical, very slight banana
Pineapple, Coconut, Tropical, Pina Colada, Candy, Sweetness, Shampoo. Very little burn
Short Length, Fruity, Smooth, Butterscotch
Extremely smooth and very flavorful. Light mouthfeel. Not as grassy or herbal as something like an Agricole. No burn on the nose, palate, or finish. I'm not a fan of Pina Coladas but if they all tasted like this maybe I would be. I picked this up for 28 Euros and dam what a steal. Don't think they distribute in the US but I'm hoping they begin to soon. if you're ever in Northern Italy, it's worth bringing home a bottle. It's very unique and I haven't tried one quite yet with a similar profile. Im doubtful that they cut it with sugar like a spanish rum based on the sweetness level. Curious if anyone else has come across this bottle. Thanks for reading!
Any tips on how to really dive into these reviews is appreciated. The rum wheel has been very helpful. Feel free to critique.
