Simply Crochet Magazine replaces picture of Black crafter with the White writer's picture

Emilee Shield, a Black cosplayer and crafter (goes by ourshieldmaiden) was asked by Marianne, a White writer at Simply Crochet magazine to be interviewed as a feature about her approach to crocheting using supplies from craft stores.

She sent along pictures of her work and herself, which she said was approved by the magazine. But when the issue came out, it had pictures Emilee took but used a picture of the interviewer instead of Emilee herself.

Emilee made a post about it yesterday and the magazine is rightfully being critized on ig that they decided to use a White woman's picture rather than the actual Black crafter whose pictures they used

Essential/non-essential things to bring to rink

What are somethings you bring that people don't bring up as an essential and what are things that people have brought that isn't essential for you?

For me, I don't think people bring up hand sanitizer which is essential to me since things are so grimy at my local rink

Ice skating/sports for core strength

I've been taking ice skating lessons (no jumps, just some gliding tricks) and have noticed that while my pain is still at the same level, it feels like my core strength has gotten stronger.

Has anyone successfully rehabbed their back pain with sports that force you to strengthen your core strength?

Trouble with backward wiggles

I've done my first class and some practice time, but having trouble with backward wiggles and getting momentum going.

How far apart should my feet be from each other? I try putting them pretty close but can't really get too much hip action on my right side bc that side is tight.

Is it better to aim for bigger and slower hip rotation or smaller and faster? I had 2 instructors give me different advice.

Should I be putting more pressure on my heel or the whole foot?

Sorry for all the questions. I just want to make sure I'm doing things correctly as a beginner
