Is this ship lantern allowed here?

Found it at a flee market in Western Hungary, i paid 8 dollars for it. Appears to be full copper with a fresnel lens. Average sized hand for scale.

I have not found this exact model on the net, only similar ones.

Do you have any idea about its age or function?
Thank you so much in advance!

Giant Amethyst Cluster

Saw this during an open-house event at a private collection

Even on the ground, it had a very heavy and commanding presence!

Please help ID this!

My grandfather worked in oil drilling industry, and collected a ton of interesting samples from the sites he worked at. I think the matrix is some kind of schist, but i have no clue about the crystals.

There is a label that says “pirrhotin”, but i think thats a stray label belonging to another sample…things got mixed a bit

It was collected in the 70s , most likely in Hungary, or another neighbouring soviet satellite state

I have a lot of samples that i would like to ask for your help with, but i dont want to flood this subreddit.
So i will post about them in 1-2 week intervals

Thanks in advance 😊

Fluorite with Phantom zoning

I love this sample, as it’s color is much richer than usual in that region, and for its strong growth zonings.
I also appreciate the almost water-clear , smaller crystals around the edges.

[size: 2 inches / 52 mm]

[origin: possibly Balochistan(?), Pakistan]

Color-zoning Verdelite Tourmaline in natural matrix ( some kind of Feldspar? )

[size: 56 mm]

[origin: Stak-Nala mine, Haramosh-mountains, Pakistan]

I really love this sample, as it shows how tourmaline occurs within its natural matrix, before it gets separated into single crystals and sold individually

I have this nice Beryl ( Aquamarine? ) in feldspar matrix.

My question is, do you think the crystal tip/termination is natural, or has it been polished by a human ?

The edges are very straight and sharp, i would be interested to learn the truth.

Thank you in advance !
