Update 3 - lightweight tripod cook set

Hey everyone - updating on this project. Made a few changes and cooked some food!

- made the assembly 1 section taller
- using a metal piece I had laser cut for the rigging

Cooked 2 delicious pork chops with no noticeable wear or flexing.

Next step is to try it on a camping trip, but this was a successful dry run!

* for those worried about the solo stove over carpet - it’s a fire resistant carpet and I put my hand under the solo stove and there was plenty of airflow to keep it very cool underneath. Fire is out and everything is safe

Follow Up 2: Lightweight tripod cook setup

Hey everyone - made some more updates to the design and added a bag. This will be my last post that doesn’t have food cooking in the photos.

- tested with a confirmed 3lb load with no bending
- made a 3D printed spreader beam to switch easily between a center hook or a side loaded grill pad. This will be cut from 3/16” aluminum before trying over a fire
- purchased a 6”x6” grilling surface pad to use interchangeably with the s hook

Let me know your thoughts!

Follow Up - lightweight tripod cook setup

Hey everyone - took some feedback from the last post and made an updated version specifically for hanging a pot. Looking forward to trying it!

For those who asked, the poles are aluminum tent poles, the inside is run with a stainless steel wire rope and the clip is a cheap aluminum carabiner

Concept - tripod cook setup for backpacking

Hey everyone - toying with a concept for a lightweight tripod cooking setup. Going to try this out on my next camping trip. The stainless steel wire mesh can be swapped with a chain from the tip of the tripod for cooking soups/boiling water. Curious on your thoughts!

UPDATE: thanks everyone for all of the comments! I’ve made a new design that based around the pot hanging instead of the mesh screen. Made a new post in the sub, looking forward to trying it out!
