Need a guy’s perspective - will you miss a manual too much to upgrade?
Help me pick a car please, I could use some outside perspective and reasoning!
Backstory: Planning to surprise my family with my first car purchase, we are a family of 5 (4 adults 1 kid) and we have 2 petrol ICE cars that are over 12 years old. Needless to say, they have started aging quite badly and we are in need of an upgrade as my sister’s son is starting to getting older. The primary drivers are me and dad and we prefer the manual sedan and my sister and mom prefer the automatic hatchback for our commute. We will replace one of the cars we don’t know which yet (obvious choice is to get rid of the ford sedan and kept the Nissan)
A 7 seater isn’t needed but I do like having the option in case we have family over we can stop taking both cars. Should I also consider some 5 seaters that are more worth it?
Mostly we let go of the ford sedan(lack of service and it’s done more kms and definitely reaching its end), will we miss the manual? (I’m worried dad might not like an automatic drive too much, he has been driving since the 80s and will I be making it difficult for him to get used to the new tech?)
Can we afford for them to not like it? We make a combined income of about 4L a month but it’s a big decision to buy a XUV 9s and hope they will like it as much as I did. Any suggestions for a 25L car I should consider test driving?
Now it’s unfortunate we have to replace his car really, he loves that ford sedan but I’m so tired of trying to get it repaired, will I be taking the joy out of his driving experience? Should I just go for manual petrol car instead in the 25-30L range? Should I just keep the Ford for his sake and replace the Nissan automatic with this purchase?
