Trade workshop possible use

The other day I was playing a RM game and made bombard cannons to shoot down turk bombard towers. I realized shortly that turk bombard towers outrange bombard cannons. In this moment I wished I could trade in the bombard cannons for trebs.

What if the Trade Workshop building was included in the game for the purpose of "trading in" siege units. You could garrison trebuchets, rams, bombard cannons, onagers, or scorpions etc, in the trade workshop and it would delete them and give you 80% of their cost back so you could spend those resources on other stuff. The Trade Workshop would only be used to trade in siege units. It would make sense because in real life you would physically take apart what you could and the wood and minerals and such would be used to build something different and new.

If this is too strong, you could make it only work for trebuchets, bombard cannons, and rams.

The building is already in the game editor, just unused. I think this would be a good use for it. Thoughts?

Medieval Sweden Civilization Idea Updated

I posted about my Sweden Civ idea the other day, and got great feedback, criticism, and ideas. Here's my updated draft of what a medieval Sweden civilization would look like.

Some reasoning/explanation for bonuses:

  • Farms take 15 seconds to build, now it takes 2 seconds. Means villagers are ready to start gathering food faster, I estimate it will save roughly 10-20 minutes of villager work time over the course of a game.
  • Houses and lumber camps are half priced. Sweden is known for their logging and carpentry, so I thought this was fitting. Similar to inca/japenese bonus, but big difference is it helps in walling your base with houses being cheaper where as inca bonus saves construction time.
  • Rams cost no gold will be a fun one I think, the 160 wood cost was always the limiting factor when deciding to make rams, because the wood is needed most likely for town centers or buildings in early castle. Then in late game it will be a nice source of gold savings if you need to make them, but you miss siege ram.
  • Getting 200 stone for every enemy castle you raze/destroy is really cool in my eyes, its like you looted the rubble and used some old building blocks to help you construct your own castle after. It also rewards aggression, you only benefit from the bonus if you are actively fighting the enemy.
  • Barracks units getting a small version of the shrivamsha rider dodge ability I think can mix things up. The shrivamsha rider can dodge 5 (7 for elite) projectiles and it recharges. This infantry bonus in contrary gives barracks units the ability to dodge 2 projectiles, but it does NOT recharge. This will be strong in feudal and castle age against archers, but fall off in imp as you don't get the last infantry armor from the blacksmith. Also has no effect against melee units.

Unique Unit: Norse Warrior (Infantry)

Unique Techs:

  • Scout-line gain 20% speed attack charge (*This speed charge attack will increase the movement speed of this cavalry by 20% when targeting enemy units within 8 tiles similar to the samurai. This will help them chase down units and run in and snipe siege. To balance this the civ lacks husbandry so scout-line will be slower moving around the map and knights will lack speed in general.
  • Knight-line costs no food (*This is the imperial age crown tech, so it comes into play later in the game. The knight-line will now cost only 75 gold. This will open up a cool dynamic where you can spam only food on hussars, and only gold on cavaliers.

Team Bonus: Cavalry +3 HP (*Means most if not all cavalry will take 1 more arrow from archers to kill. Will NOT change hits needed by pikeman/halberdier to take down cavalry as far as I know. Biggest effect will be that skirmishers will need 1-3 more hits on cavalry to kill them.

What are your guy's thoughts? What do like? What do you think needs to be fixed?
