FSD in heavy downpour
Driving home yesterday here in south Florida using FSD 14.3.2. Rain started light at first, my MYP maintained speed while others slowed down a bit. I admit I felt a bit smug. The rain intensified and then the alerts started: “FSD may be degraded. Poor weather detected” or something like that. Car kept going though and I gently put my hand on the steering wheel. When the rain became torrential, I actually got nervous and then FSD freaked out. The big red alert “take control immediately!” Came on so I took over. I had to actually drive a car I love! The horror! 🤪
The post is less about my poor attempts at humor and more about a real concern over poor weather and the possibility of UNsupervised FSD. This type of rain is quite common here (and elsewhere, I’m sure) so how would an unsupervised FSD react? What about vehicles without manual controls? What about a Waymo?
