Signed leases
Looking for clarification on Ontario RGI housing rules.
Do both parties need to sign:
the lease agreement, and
the Notice of Assessment / annual review paperwork?
We recently had a meeting with the city and were told signatures from both parties are not required under RGI rules.
What’s confusing is that when we asked for copies of the lease and the review/assessment paperwork, they were unable to provide the documents.
So now we’re trying to understand:
- Is a lease still valid if both parties never signed?
- Are housing providers required to provide copies of the lease and review documents if requested?
- Under RGI rules, can decisions be made without signed paperwork?
- Has anyone else dealt with a situation where documents couldn’t be produced?
Just trying to understand our rights and what the proper process is in Ontario RGI housing. Any advice or experience would help.
