Took Freeblade to a 3-0 finish at the RTT today, had a good time. Matchups were Demonic incursion big demons, renegade raiders CSM, and Saga of the great wolf SW. I think the detachment is great, probably the best we have now? I enjoyed playing Spearhead-at-Arms a ton, but freeblade feels like more generic power with less hoops to jump through. 21" auto advancing armigers that can shoot or charge then explode on a 3+ are probably some of the most powerful pieces we can present as an army. Castellan can no longer be stuck into place uselessly for 2 turns by any unit of 5 models which is GREAT. He can actually afford to come closer to the center now. Being able to threaten the pick up an armiger at end of opponents turn along with mysterious guardian castellan means the opponent has to seriously respect you and screen, or lose instantly.
List is:
Lancer - gives advance and charge to an armiger, can be sent like a bowling ball into center of enemy army and threaten that d6+2 demise on a 4+
Castellan with Mysterious guardian - Big crab killer, will pop any vehicle without invuls instantly, and actually great vs terminator and elite bricks with its big blast guns
Errant with Bringer of Justice - melee menace with massive amount of attacks hitting on 2s, and can actually start in reserves to walk off the board edge to threaten the melta 6 on his 24" thermal cannon
3 helverin with stubber
2 warglaive with melta
Imperial navy breachers to help screen back line and hold home so you can threaten the MG on castellan without worry of losing it. 18" grenades means with good positioning you can throw one right into the center of the board, which is nice since the detachment has pretty situational strats. Getting grenades and 2 tank shocks can help you kill things that you're bad at normally killing as well, or to pump max damage on your go turn
