CX-30 Saved My Life

This was a good car. I saw the CRV’s front end come into view, slammed on the brakes, cut the wheel to the right, and felt the impact. It was hard. With my ears ringing, I regained my sight surrounded by airbags, the car courteously informing me that a collision had been detected. The white, acrid smoke made me instinctually think “fire!” as I escaped my seatbelt, found my glasses on the dashboard, pulled myself over the center console and crawled out the passenger side door. There was no fire (only smoke from the airbag detonation) and I made it out with a banged up shoulder, a gash up the center of my forehead, and a few bruised ribs.

P.S. Ambulances need softer suspensions, every bump and pothole felt like a punch to the gut.
