Beaches near New Haven

Hello! I have a couple questions now that it is becoming summer weather (finally!) as a new NH resident!

I’ve seen seemingly nice beach near west haven and along the sound. I was wondering what the actual beaches were like, the parking, and the swimming (do people recommend swimming in the sound? ) I’m from the east coast originally so I’m used to the beaches along the north shore.

Are there any beaches people recommend? I have a car so I have access to drive to places, although I don’t have a CT license plate. Are there any beaches I shouldn’t go to?

All advice is helpful!

Thanks a ton 👍🏻

Hello everyone!

I am relatively new to New Haven so perhaps this isn't something new, or perhaps someone has asked about this already.

I live near downtown, and I have noticed over the past month or so (especially around Orange street and Elm street these signs popping up of Audrey Hepburn's face with a red slow across it. These are (appropriately) under stop signs, but also on street corners and I have noticed more and more popping up. Maybe these are always around New Haven and I just haven't noticed.

Anyways, I am wondering if this is from an artist, or from the city in an attempt to slow down drivers, or all of the above. I personally think they are cool colors and an interesting concept if this is true.

Please correct me if I am wrong about anything! Thank you!

Hi everyone! This is my first post here. I wasn’t quite sure how to reach out, but figured this subreddit would be helpful!

I’m a recent college graduate with a Biology degree. For the past nine months I’ve been working in a research lab studying cancer, and I am really excited about the research and the lab work. I really enjoy the lab itself, the content I’m learning, and my new living area. However, I feel like I’m not doing that great of a job. I’m still figuring out things like organization, time management, and communication in the lab. This feels like something I need to be good at as a trainee, to set myself up for success in the future. While I know experiments fail, sometimes often, it feels like my product is not as good or at the standard that it needs to be. I’m wondering if maybe this isn’t something I’m that good at.

I was hoping to apply to a PhD program in the fall- it is something I’ve wanted to do since high-school. I would love to learn more about science and build a strong foundation, but for the first time I’m starting to doubt whether I can do a PhD. I’ve always been told that if you aren’t sure, you shouldn’t do a PhD. I also don’t even know if I’d get into a program regardless.

I apologize for the long post- I guess I am looking for advice as well as other career options.

In general, I’m wondering if there are any non lab roles I could look into without doing graduate roles. I love biology and science, as well as ethics and public health. Maybe there are option there.

Thank you all for the help in advance!
