So, I’m terrible with words, hense I’m here.
My mother is dying from oral cancer and cannot talk, so I am her voice. I have taken a leave of absence from work to take care of her till the end which is sadly not far off. My aunt, mom’s only sibling, lives a 4hr drive away and made a surprise visit a week and a half ago. My mother was NOT happy about it. They have always tolerated each other, but have never been sisterly sisters, ya know? When my aunt left, she said she’d be back in a month or so. My mother wrote a note saying “If she is going to come back, then kill me now!”
My question is…how can I tactfully tell my aunt that mom doesn’t want ANY visitors…including her sister, without giving my mom’s true feelings away? I want to abide my mom’s wishes, but don’t want to hurt my aunt’s feelings. TIA
