Need advice on selling a build

Unfortunately might be time for me to get rid of my wrangler! For background, 2015 JKU Sahara that I bought in 2017 with around 24,000mi on it. Bone stock until 2021 when I finally did my build & got it running 38s. Totaled by a negligent driver in 2023, owner retained, rebuilt it & still daily drive it today! Part of the rebuilt was a new motor, found out today (thankfully under warranty) that it’ll likely be on motor #3. Which can definitely be a good thing, but just can’t justify having it as a daily & wouldn’t be the best financial decision to keep it at this time. Sucks, but is what it is.

Anyway, background aside, I’ll start by saying I’m 1000% aware you don’t get your value back in parts when selling a modified wrangler… dealt with it when fighting insurance when it was totaled. So if I do sell it once the new engine is in, my number will be completely reasonable & will take into account its accident history, nature of its modification, etc.
. I know best bet for selling a built wrangler is through a private sale, but I’m curious about anyone’s experience selling a very modified wrangler. Where you advertised, your experiences, etc. I’d appreciate anyone’s 2¢ on this, as this is my first wrangler, first time doing a build, actually would be my first time selling a vehicle that runs lol. Thank in advance. Photo of the jeep because I love it!

Edit: just realizing I left out a very critical detail. CLEAN TITLE. Through insurance, they totaled it on their end & it didn’t cross my state’s legal threshold so essentially totaled by their policy but not legally.

2024+ Colorado ZR2

Hey all, going to be looking to sell my current daily driver and I’m currently leaning heavily towards purchasing a 2024+ Colorado ZR2.

For background, love building off-roaders. I currently daily a 2015 jeep wrangler that I built to run 38x13.5” Toyo MTs (stupid? Yes. Fun? Yes? Practical? No… most of my driving is local so isn’t as bad as it sounds lol) and it’s hitting the point where it’s just taking more maintenance than I want to be putting into it. Love the thing & I’ll likely regret selling, but it’s terrible for a daily. Loving how capable the ZR2s seems to be from the factory, which is a big selling point to me (essentially to say I won’t have a do a comprehensive build to make it as capable as I’d like). I’d like to run a nice set of 35” XTs if I get this truck, which makes me lean towards trying to get one optioned with the bison package. But just from early research, doesn’t seem like these pop up too often (especially in my local area) so not banking on getting my hands on one. If I wanted to get 35x12.5” tires on an oem wheel (if that’s even possible), I’m assuming I’d need at minimum some amount of level, some amount of a wheel spacer, and then a programmer to set the speedometer? Curious if I’m missing anything like any cutting or if the oem gearing will be sufficient for 35s, etc. And if this hits anyone running 35s, I’m also curious how far it drops your average mpg.

Also, would love input on some items to look for in these, as I will be purchasing used (not in an area where rust is of concern). And I will definitely be buying a lower mileage (30-50k max) bone stock model. I’m also curious about people’s experience with the inline 4 motor. I’m handy enough to work on my own motor, but I’d say once I hit the valve covers is where I get 50/50. So I’m curious how it’s been holding up w/ regular use & maintenance, how easy it is to work on, etc. Sorry if this post is a little all over the place, been a while since I’ve looked into getting a new vehicle so trying to hit a bunch of points with this. Appreciate any insight or general buying advice for these. Thanks!

2015 JKU - 100k!

Finally unlocked the 6th digit on my 2015 JKU this morning (tried to hide the engine light w the steering wheel but oh well)!

Bought back in 2017 with 24k miles bone stock, built it for 6yrs, totaled in 2023 in a front end collision. Owner retained, got her rebuilt, still daily driving to this day! More of an appreciation post than anything, I’ve learned how vehicles work owning this thing, learned how to build them, work on them, etc. took a while, but hit 100k!

Ironically, when it was totaled in 2023, I replaced the motor & got a 3yr/100k mile warranty… been going to war against a cylinder 4 misfire & remembered it was under warranty so I had it compression tested last week & cyl.4 was about 30psi lower than spec so it’s going to a dealership Monday to get repaired… so slight chance we hit motor #3 lol. Regardless of its issues, love the thing & don’t see myself getting rid of it. Cheers to 100k!

Question about watch maintenance - Carrera 01

Hey all, I’ve had a Tag Heuer Carrera 01 since 2023 that I wear pretty much all of the time & I’m curious about watch maintenance. This is the first mechanical movement that I have, so forgive me if this is a dumb question.

But the watch has never been serviced since I bought it & overall it seems to be doing well. I notice that after maybe about a week, it’ll be about a minute off (lower) than the actual time. Curious how normal this is or if my ignorance is to blame for neglecting to get information on its service & maintenance. Thanks for any input!

Warranty question - 15 JKU

Pretty quick question, but I have a 2015 JKU Sahara. 3 years ago (accident related) I had to put a new motor in it. Went with a brand new long block from the dealership & got a 3yr/100k mile warranty. Fast forward to now, cylinder 4 misfire & it failed a compression test so I’m trying to have this fixed under warranty.

I reached out to the dealership who I purchased the motor from & told them all of the maintenance parts that were replaced to attempt to address the misfire & then results of the compression test. Confirmed with their parts department that the motor was properly registered and is still under warranty. Today, I get a text saying that only the part is covered but no labor? This seems not correct to me, but I’ve never had to have work done under warranty. Is this typical? Because given its failing compression, the issue is very clearly internal & covered with the warranty. Am I seriously about to have to essentially pay for a valve job for a warranty issue? Any insight on this would be very helpful!

Help finding engine serial number - 15 JKU

Hey all, quick question that I’m hoping someone will have a quick answer for. I’m at the tail end of my engine’s warranty (bone stock 3.6L) so I had it compression tested before that window closed & it failed. So the shop who tested it is working with whoever warrantied the engine and they need my motor’s serial number (this is my primary vehicle, so I’m driving it until we figure out how they want to proceed with the warranty work).

I’m trying to find my engine’s serial number but I’m having a very tough time. I’ve web driving in this engine for almost 3 years, so the sticker I was told containing it is long gone. On the engine itself, on the driver’s side of my engine block I was able to find a data matrix that I believe can be decoded to get the serial number, but nothing I’ve tried has been able to decode it. Does anyone know of an easier way to pull my engine’s serial number? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Have posted about my build before, so won’t get too into it. But I have a 2015 JKU that I built to run 38s. The build was totaled in 2023, I owner retained & rebuilt which included getting a new motor, which I went with a long block new from the dealership. I opted to get a few additional parts to get a 3yr/100k mile warranty, which ends in November 2026.

Well thank god I did, because I’ve been chasing a misfire on cylinder 4 for about 2 months. Dropped the Jeep off at my local shop to do my PCV valve because I was having trouble getting to it myself & had them compression test… found my issue very quickly. Cylinder 4 is not holding compression to spec. And if you’re curious why I didn’t compression check earlier, my engine was replaced w/ around 70,000mi on my odometer and I’m at about 100,000mi currently. Most of the original parts were retained from the first engine given it was a long block. So most of the parts I’ve replaced for the misfire likely needed replacement to begin with, so I was tackling these items first to get an engine tune up & see if it would solve the problem. Ultimately got it tested because my warranty period was running out.

So my shop is currently talking with the dealership who we purchased the engine from regarding how to proceed with warranty work (bring it to dealership, do the work at my shop, etc.)

I’ve never had to do warranty work, so trying to figure all of this out. I have full faith in my shop to work on the vehicle in a timely manner & I trust their work. But if it has to go to the dealer, complete opposite based on past experience using them. The last time I let them see my vehicle, I dropped it off to do the J8 master cylinder & brake booster, which they had my vehicle for nearly 3 days and ultimately declined to install the part & charged me $600, which I’m still fighting today. So if it has to go back to the dealership, definitely going to send it there given it’s warranty work but this is my primary vehicle and I don’t trust them to work on it in a timely manner. Has anyone had luck getting a loaner for lengthy warranty work? Would also like to hear people’s experience getting warrantied parts repaired and to know a bit more how the process works. Thanks!

So I went to start disassembly to replace my 15 JKU’s PCV valve & didn’t make it very far, as I found one of the bolts on my upper intake manifolds’ head is stripped so my 8mm isn’t able to grip it. Any ideas how to get this removed? I removed the manifold about 2 weeks ago working on a different part of my engine and don’t at all remember having any issues removing or putting this back on. Even torqued it to spec, although it was only about 7-8 ft/lb.

Only other thought I had was to use pliers to turn it, but no luck. And really don’t want to go & damage the plastic trying to get it removed. Any help is appreciated! (Stock 3.6L)
