Starting PIP Joint Physiotherapy – Pain During Exercises but No Pain After. Normal?

Hey everyone,
I recently started physiotherapy for my PIP joint (finger injury/stiffness after surgery/injury). During the therapy exercises, I feel a pretty good amount of pain and stretching, but once the session ends, the pain mostly goes away and feels normal again.
My physiotherapist said this can happen during recovery, but I just wanted to ask people who have gone through something similar:
Is pain during PIP joint exercises normal?
How long did it take for your finger to heal properly and regain movement?
Did your bending angle/flexibility improve gradually over time?
Sometimes I feel improvement during exercises, but the next day stiffness comes back a bit, so I’m curious if this is part of the normal healing process.
Would really appreciate hearing experiences from anyone who dealt with PIP joint stiffness, tendon injuries, or finger physiotherapy recovery.

Severe PIP Joint Stiffness One Month After Index Finger Fracture Surgery – How Long Did It Take You to Regain Motion?

Age: 22
Sex: Male
Height: 190 cm
Weight: 92 kg
Medications: None currently
Smoking Status: Smoker
Current Medical Issue: Severe stiffness of the PIP joint after surgery for a fracture-dislocation
Duration: 1 month since surgery
Location: Right index finger

Hi everyone,

I had surgery one month ago for a fracture-dislocation involving the PIP joint (the middle joint) of my right index finger. There is still an implant inside the finger.

My main concern is severe stiffness in the PIP joint. The joint feels extremely tight and is very difficult to bend, almost as if it is stuck. I have recently started physiotherapy and finger exercises.

I am not looking for a personal diagnosis, but I would like to know whether this degree of stiffness is common after this type of injury and what the usual recovery timeline may be.

I would also appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a similar injury:
- How long did it take before your finger started moving better?
- Were you eventually able to make a full fist?
- How much did physiotherapy help?

Thank you very much for your time and for sharing your experiences.

About 20 days ago, me and one of my friends got into a heated argument. During the argument, he physically assaulted me and broke my index finger badly enough that I needed surgery and now have a permanent implant in my finger.
Because of this injury:
I missed an important exam and now have to appear again after 6 months.
I’m in my final semester, so this may affect placements, career opportunities, finances, and mental health.
Recovery is slow and stressful, especially since it’s my hand and finger function matters a lot.
At first, after the incident, he acted supportive and kept asking if I needed help. Because we were friends, I did not immediately file an official complaint. I thought maybe things would calm down.
But over the last few weeks, I started noticing behavior that felt fake and manipulative:
He has been spreading narratives to other people that he is “helping me a lot.”
He is telling people that I am treating him badly or targeting him.
He is trying to gain sympathy from mutual friends while ignoring the actual damage caused.
Privately, he has mostly become normal/casual about the whole thing, as if nothing serious happened.
Now I am considering filing a complaint with my college/anti-ragging committee for physical assault.
My question is:
Will it look suspicious or weak that I am filing the complaint 20 days after the incident instead of immediately? Is it reasonable that I delayed because we were friends and I initially hoped things could be handled peacefully?
I would appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have dealt with college complaints, anti-ragging cases, or assault situations.

Hey everyone,
I recently had surgery on my right index finger after a fracture. The doctors used a combination of a small plate with screws inside and an external fixator (the metal rod/frame outside the finger).
It’s been a few days/weeks now, and I’m starting to wonder about recovery:
Has anyone here had a similar surgery (external fixator + internal plate in finger)?
How long did it take for your bone to fully heal?
When were you able to move your finger normally again?
Did you regain full strength and flexibility, or is there still stiffness?
Any tips for faster recovery or exercises that helped?
Right now, I have stitches and some swelling, and my doctor has started suggesting light movement exercises. Just trying to understand what to expect in the coming weeks/months.
Would really appreciate hearing your experiences
