Simple shape, Simple answer?

Simple shape, Simple answer?

Howdy, I'm a beginner again after trying blender over and over again throughout the years. I'm Trying just to make some simple 3d Shapes for game stuff. I'm wondering the correct way to join the objects together. Most of the videos I've watched on modeling the end product is a render so most face issues/artifacts can be hidden, or they don't really care about face count.

So what do I do? Do I cut the circles in half then merge verts with the square? Will I have to worry about faces from the square on the inside of the circle if I do that?

Or would you not use the circle/cylinder and add some divisions on the face of the square/cube and use like the proportional setting and drag out the arch shape?

I know just hitting J to join them is not going to make them one cohesive low poly mesh that full of happy quads.

Thank you for any help.
