I'm so old.. (Gotta have 16 characters in the title)

I still have the 28-135mm lens that I used on my Digital Rebel. It's been my walk-around lens through the DR, 30D, 7D, and now the 5D MK IV. It's served me well, but I'm considering the 24-105 L lens. I'm not sure it will provide the reach I'm used to with the 28-135. I know it's a better lens(!), but I'm on the fence. What I want is something to take the place of the 28-135, about the same range and weight, better quality. My shooting is mostly the "I was here and saw this" while specializing in mechanical displays or museums I do not do people shots well at all.

I also have the 70-200 f2.8L (w/1.4X TE), the 70-300, 17-40 L, and the Nifty Fifty 1.8.

What do you fine folks recommend?
