Alibaba Eisenlink Clone Adjustable Dumbbells

Final update on my Alibaba fitness equipment order from Changsha Dinuo Technology.

I placed the order on April 1st and received everything at my home in Panama on June 18th, for a total transit time of 78 days. That's longer than I expected, but I chose to use a freight forwarder because it offered significant tax advantages compared to direct shipping.

What I bought:

1 pair of 36 kg adjustable dumbbells

1 pair of 41 kg adjustable dumbbells

Adjustable kettlebell handles

Adjustable barbell handle

Costs:

Products: $392

Shipping from supplier to my freight forwarder's warehouse in China: $50

Alibaba transaction fees: ~$13

Shipping from China to my door in Panama (0.8 CBM): $285

Total cost delivered: ~$740

I did not use DDP shipping from the supplier. Instead, I used a Panamanian freight forwarder that consolidates cargo. In my case, I only paid the shipping costs and did not have to pay any additional import taxes, VAT, or customs duties.

The only missing items were two bolts for the kettlebell handles, but I was able to use spare bolts included with the 41 kg dumbbell set, so it wasn't really an issue.

One interesting thing I noticed is that the handle design is slightly different from the Eisenlink dumbbells sold on Amazon. I'm not sure if it's an updated version, but the knurling is actually very good. I've seen people complain that the original Eisenlink knurling is too mild, whereas these feel noticeably more aggressive and provide a very secure grip.

Another thing worth mentioning is that the instruction manual labels the smaller plates as 2 kg and 1 kg rather than 5 lb and 2.5 lb like the versions sold on Amazon. However, after handling them, I think they may actually weigh a bit more than 2 kg and 1 kg, so they could still be close to the advertised 5 lb and 2.5 lb plates. I haven't verified them on a proper scale yet, so I'll update once I do.

The packaging was excellent—almost too good. It took a while to unpack because everything was wrapped so securely, but nothing arrived damaged. Compared to the old concrete-filled dumbbells I was using, these are in a completely different league. The concrete ones are basically obsolete now, and I'll probably give them away.

For comparison, buying equivalent products on Amazon would have cost me about $1,442 before shipping. Even if I lived in the United States, I'd probably still choose Alibaba because the savings are substantial and domestic shipping would likely be much cheaper than what I paid to ship everything to Panama.

Based on this experience, I will absolutely be using Alibaba again for future fitness equipment purchases. I'm already considering a stainless steel power rack with a clone of the Ares 2.0 system, along with additional gym equipment and machines.
