L3/L4 fusion hopefully disc replacement in the future
I had a L3 L4 TLIF fusion at the age of 26th due a pars injury that was severely degenerating my disc, I am 29 now and my doctor told me I have mild signs of disc degeneration above and below my fusion site. He told me going forward, he would do a disc replacement instead of more fusions, hopefully not for another 10+ years, I’m curious if anyone has experience with ADR above and below a fused segment in the lumbar spine specifically. I am a cop and currently feel pretty fine doing my everyday job, but I’m just scared that my body will not be as good with more replacements in the spine. Anyone have any insight or experience?
I’m hoping with advancements in technology they are able to preserve discs better and also have better technology with ADR and spine health in general in the upcoming years
