Hit by truck on SE Stark near 122nd on Friday 5/15; does anyone have any photos/video?
Finally “earned” my place as a pedestrian victim statistic on Portland’s High Crash Network 🙃
On Friday, May 15 around 4 PM, I was walking home on the sidewalk on SE Stark near 122nd when I was hit from behind by a pickup truck that lost control in the rain.
From what witnesses told paramedics (and from what paramedics told me) the driver was going too fast after the rain started and slid into the sidewalk. I apparently got thrown around 10 feet and briefly lost consciousness. I came to pinned between the truck and the fence of the car lot next to the sidewalk, with my backpack literally caught on the top of the fence spikes.
Somehow, after ER imaging and evaluation, I escaped with “just” significant bruising/soft tissue injuries and concussion/whiplash symptoms. Honestly feels surreal that I walked away from this mostly intact???
ANYWAY; I’m posting here in case anyone happened to witness the crash or has dashcam footage, photos, security footage, or even pictures of the aftermath/scene. I know a lot of people stopped to help and I’m incredibly grateful.
If you saw anything or captured anything around SE Stark & 122nd around 4 PM on Friday 5/15, please DM me!
Also: huge thank you to the strangers who stayed with me until EMS arrived (and EMS for doing an incredible job). I genuinely don’t remember much after impact, but I’ve been told a lot of people stepped in to help and I really appreciate it 🥹🫶.
