Lost Wedding Ring Outside Powell's Books: REWARD!

Hi everyone, I'm hoping Reddit can help us.

On Sunday 5/17, my wife lost her heirloom wedding ring on the sidewalk outside Powell's Books on W. Burnside Street. The ring belonged to my wife's grandmother. The ring has enormous sentimental value and my wife is heartbroken.

The ring is silver- or platinum-colored, from the 1920s or 1930s, with three rows of tiny stones. The top and bottom rows of stones are round. The middle row of stones are rectangular-shaped. We don't have any photos, so my wife drew this picture of the ring.

If I make flyers, can someone post them around Powell's Books?

Can anyone recommend pawn shops or places where someone might have sold the ring?

If you’ve found it, seen it, or know someone who may have, my wife and I would be deeply grateful to hear from you. I am offering a reward for the ring's return.

Reading this post, sharing this post, or even upvoting it means a lot to us. Thank you.

Neighborhood or hotel suggestion for my teen's make up camp week?

Hi! I'll be visiting the area for a week in late June while my daughter attends a half day make up camp near Mt Tabor. I've never visited Portland but have been doing neighborhood research and it seems like Hawthorne would be perfect and Alberta might also be fun. We'd like to be somewhere reasonably walkable and with areas a teen might enjoy exploring, and good food/entertainment would be fantastic.

I'm booking SUPER late bc a spot in the camp just opened, and all the AirBnB locations in Hawthorne are at least $1K higher. We are open to hotels but haven't found any in those areas with availability that meets our needs; for some reason the options I've found with suites or larger rooms have a max of 2 and there will be 3 of us. Is it worth spending $$$ for Hawthorne or will Alberta also be awesome? Is there another location I'm overlooking completely? Queer friendly environment needed but hopefully that's a given.

Teen is artistic/creative and loves theater and anime.

Who do you all recommend for estate planning for married couple with one child?

I am looking into Kruss Law & Generations Estate Law. Any others to consider? Also would like to hear if either of these would not be recommended.

Also, has anyone ever done estate planning through their EAP benefits?

What are you favorite bars to read at? Bonus question: Why do you like reading at bars?

The algorithm showed me an ad for a book bar close to downtown and I am intrigued. I've heard of people going to bars to read in the past but, idk, they always seem poorly lit for reading, and it seems like there'd just be too much noise.

BUT, people clearly do it, so I'm curious: Where are you favorite locations for it, and WHY do you enjoy it? I like reading, and I like trying new bars/restaurants, so I'm open to the idea, but I feel like I need a bit of convincing :p

Where do y’all buy your eggs?

A few weeks ago I spent around $6 for what I thought were gonna be some solid eggs only to have some of the palest yolks I have ever seen.

I used to own chickens before I left Missouri. I’ll add a pic of my favorite one, her name was sandwich. I dearly miss their eggs.

I am looking for some eggs with some vibrant yolks. Possibly some that haven’t been stuck in a fridge for who knows how long. Poop on the shell, all the jazz. Where do you get that kind of egg?

If no one knows I’ll of course take a suggestion for a brand I can pick up at the store.

Free place to change my oil?

Honestly just looking for a safe place to pull my car up on ramps and do a quick drain and fill. 30-45mins max.

Anyone found a place like that? Respectful, clean, you'll never know I was there.

New to the city and trying to save a few bucks. Help a guy out?

What to eat during my first week in PDX?

I'm finally moving to PDX this week, making the drive out on Tuesday. I have 5 days of PTO after arriving and have never set foot in Portland. I'll be living on East Burnside Street right next to the Burnside bridge. I have a pretty good idea of what to DO during my first few weeks even, lots of events lined up etc, but the sheer amount of options for food is overwhelming and I want to try everything. I'd appreciate some help deciding on a few key spots, what are the best within a 15-30 minute walk/bus ride of the bridge?

How does one go about starting a union?

I work for a caregiving nonprofit and I’ve been privy to some information that all of us on the bottom of the food chain are about to be royally screwed by the higher ups.
I’m tired of being treated like garbage for “do I eat or pay rent?” Paychecks.

Problem is I don’t even know where to start

Looking for anyone who can clean and repair an old stuffed animal?

Like the title says.

This may be a long shot, but I figured Portland *has* to have someone capable of doing it.

I have a very old stuffed animal that badly needs cleaned (and probably re-stuffed) but I am really hesitant to mail him off to a specialty shop somewhere because he holds a lot of sentimental value and I would be crushed if he was lost. I don't think he would hold up through a washing machine cycle, and I am not confident enough to take the stuffing out and hand wash the body myself without damaging the fabric.

Does anyone happen to know of someone in the PDX area who might have the ability to clean and re-stuff an old stuffed animal? I am absolutely willing to pay. Doesn't have to be someone who is a professional at it, but I am searching for a person who is adept at sewing and confident that they could wash old fabric without hurting it.

Thank you!

Does anyone know of any restaurants/cafes/bars that are safe for folks allergic to dairy?

My friend and I are visiting Portland this weekend for an event, and I just got allergy testing results showing I am very likely allergic to cows milk. I’m obviously cutting out all dairy immediately, so we have to replan where we want to eat. I am not vegan but I absolutely am open to vegan and vegetarian restaurants. It isn’t required that they have no dairy on their menu, just places that are trusted to not cross-contaminate or accidentally serve me something with dairy. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance:)

Where are the sailors in Portland?

I have a new sailboat and need people to sail with. Where are the river rats among us who are looking for a ride on a chill boat for fun daily sails?

Best NOT sweet margarita in Sunnyside (SE Belmont/Hawthorne) neighborhood?

My favorite marg right now is at Tacovore, but I'm moving to SE Hawthorne and want to find a walkable spot.

Needs to be NOT SWEET. The kind of well curated cocktail where I don't have to say my usual: "Can you make your Marg a little less sweet, pretty please?"

I know Gold Dust has a decent one but I'd love to find others!

Open to accompanying cuisine suggestions too!

Thanks, friends.

Recommendation for mulch installation (not blow-in)?

Hi all,

I have a pretty involved backyard and need to lay 3" of mulch. Probably 2-3 yards worth. I can't find anyone to deliver to the top of our 30 foot long inclined driveway to drop off mulch and don't want to wheelbarrow 50 loads to do it myself like I did last year.

I'm having a hard time finding a landscaper or garden maintenance provider who can handle this for me.

I need to do this ASAP since my fruit bearing overstory tree is begin to drop, and add weeds to the pre-existing 1" layer of mulch remaining from winter.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm seeing a concert at The Old Church tomorrow, any good places to eat or hang before the show?

I'll have a couple hours to kill between leaving work and the show starting. I'm thinking I'll park near the venue, grab something to eat, and pregame a little bit. Most of what I see nearby are some dive bars and a McMennamins. Am I missing any hidden gems within walking distance?
