Little baby found alone in the park (mine now 😈)

Barely 5 weeks and he was found alone in the park, according to the woman who found him. We just adopted a kitten over a year ago so we weren’t expecting to get another so soon, but my mom is a sucker lol (he was also found on my dad’s birthday).

Looked all over the park yesterday to see if there were any more, but it’s quite a large park and it’s not exactly the best place for kittens (surrounded by natural/wildlife areas and therefore predators) so unfortunately, we didn’t find any others or any sign of a mom. 😕

Super sweet, super cuddly, and currently wrapped in a towel asleep in my lap because he’s in the Poopy Butt stages (see last picture for his feelings on getting his booty washed 3 times a day). Took a few days to decide on a name, but his name is now officially Juniper!

5 week old kitten - proper feeding schedule?

Species: Cat
Sex: Presumed female (intact)
Age: Approximately 5 weeks
Symptoms: Appears quite thin for a 5 week old (ribs & hips protruding noticeably) but seems otherwise healthy
Location: Found alone in a park in Oregon (someone else found her before my mom offered to take her)

Basically the above info is all we know so far, we just brought her home today. We have two other cats, so she is being kept separate until her vet appointment (earliest appt. was June 8th).

She’s alert and wiggly and playful, no discharge or injuries, just seems rather thin for a kitten of her age. We’re currently feeding her small portions of wet kitten food every 4 hours, and I’m just wondering if this is enough? I’ve never cared for a kitten quite this young before, so I want to make sure she’s getting what she needs. She has teeth, can she eat kibble at this age or should we stick with wet food for now?

Little girl found alone in a park, help me name her!

Bonus points go to names that are food or baking related
(I have another kitten who was named Bread at the shelter, and I elongated it to Shortbread)

Common question I know but it seems like every day more and more places are closing up shop. Paper Moon books was one of my faves, but they closed several years ago. Said they were going to sell online but I haven’t been able to find them :(

Criteria I’m looking for is mainly:
- Wide selection; eclectic collections and haphazardly organized is welcomed with arms wide open
- Used; extra points for places that have OLD books (I love old cookbooks, my oldest is late 1800’s)
- Doesn’t have to be in Portland proper, willing to travel to any suburb/surrounding area

Contex: I had to submit a credit limit appeal with my community college because my aid was denied for next year (26-27). My advisor and I previously made a plan for me to take certain courses at my CC before transferring to a 4-year since the courses at my CC would be cheaper to complete, and next year would be my last year there before transferring. However, when I met with him to fill out the credit limit appeal, he told me that financial aid will only cover 1 additional chemistry/science course because it would complete my Associates, and that beyond that I would need to submit another appeal to try and get the other courses covered, since they would not apply to my degree at that point.

My question here is: what happens to my financial aid if it is not used during a designated school year? Is it disbursed similar to a refund, do I lose it altogether, do unused funds still count against my lifetime eligibility?

I have savings that are for school, but I don't currently have a job so I'm ideally trying not to use any savings unless absolutely necessary.
