I'm making Teddy Bears! On the ones I've done so far brown or black were fine for the embroidered eyes and nose. I'm working on one with brown fabric so that probably won't work. Any ideas what colour I should use? It's for a baby girl btw but all colours are on the table. It can be something other than the examples I put here.
2 due this summer, 1 due this fall, and mine (soon to be announced) due this winter. All girls 💕
Mine is the last one to make this week and will probably be deep blue, bright blue and white flowers with a bumble bee.
Planning to give these gifts to the friends and announce my pregnancy with saying I have a matching one for my daughter :)
Fingers crossed for my ultrasound this week! 🤞
Hopefully this allowed. The older piece (2nd piece) is embroidery and rug punch. I couldn't make buttons work in that one though so I made a separate piece with just buttons. They're all hand sewed with embroidery thread. I have more button cats in various styles, this is just the most recent.
This is my first time “painting” with embroidery thread… I’m sure there is a more technical term for this. I am happy with how it came out.
Recently have gotten into bead embroidery and decided to try and attempt my most ambitious project yet. Finally finished the beading portion, now I just have to assemble the thing. Wish me luck 🙏🏼
Sorry if this isn't allowed; just had an ah-ha moment and wanted to share.
Old lip balm tube that went through the wash made for a great container for beeswax to pass my threads over.
Edited: wording
Should I remove them? Should I add more, smaller knots?
Finished this guy! Tried to make it look like it was part of a catalogue .. the vision is to have multiple floral pieces all labeled!
Tried something new - not really thread painting but played with the shadows and shading a bit.
Feedback welcomed! But pls be nice 🙃
Also Ik the back is messy but I haven’t figured out an easier and better way to close it off
This is kind of my second serious attempt at thread painting, following the patterns and instructions from a Trish Burr book i got from the library.
I didn't use the threads indicated in the book since I didn't want to buy new ones, so I matched the colors a bit by intuition.
I think I improved with the long short stitch, but i feel some areas (like the big leaf) the stitches may be a bit too much at random 🤔
The all black piece I showed yesterday is all done today, maybe a total of 10 ish hours. I used 2 spools of regular black sewing thread and candle wax on a piece of a thrifted sheet, thrifted the beautiful frame yesterday for £3.

A bit wrinkled in the frame, I tried to iron it a little bit I never said I was perfect. 🖤

I love how it looks on my nightstand with my other random art.
I'm a cross-stitch lass but didn't have any idea on what to do for my brother's birthday that would not take AGES. And my ADHD doesn't allow me to plan things in advance 🤣
So I had the idea to do a small embroidery piece from a picture of him and my niece and I really loved how it turned out.
I don't understand the long and short stitch that well but I'm ready to continue to try more stuff. This was really fun to do!
I'll probably get a kit though to learn some stitches and understand the craft a bit better before doing another custom project 😅
I bought a circa 1976 kit from eBay and the fabric is quite yellowed and has some dark marks from where the fabric was folded. It also has some staining from the masking tape that held it together in the package. I am most worried about the marks that would be visible once this is framed.
Any suggestions on how to clean this? Most of my internet research related to cleaning completed pieces.
Any help is appreciated!
I like colors, but can't always find dresses that fit and have colors, so I started this - love it.
The La Linea is from a book, and the flowers just lazy daisies with French knots.
Almost done, but ran out of beads. And I need to finish the eyes. Almost done for a trade in another sub for a gorgeous suncatcher.
Just finished my first kit ever. I think the design being so small made it much harder to do a clean job.
Currently on my way to buy a second kit from Michael's. I would like to finish another kit before moving on to doing my own thing. Any tips are appreciated!
