Boat

My second (third?) solo project. Open to criticism and thoughts! I’ve been struggling with long and short stitch so hopefully I did an okay job with the ocean and the blending

Missed my exam and INC

I’m really freaking out. Last week I had an incredibly chaotic week, quit my job, found out my grandfather has cancer. And I completely missed my online exam. I forgot about it. Today I checked my grades and for that class I have an INC. I immediately emailed my prof and asked if there’s any way I can complete the exam and that I’m sorry but I feel like such an idiot. Is there any chance he’ll let me retake the exam? Is he just going to turn it into a complete fail?

Course overload

Is having a 77% average too low to be allowed course overload? I’m going into four year and I am 1 credit behind for 3000/4000 level courses.

I don’t want to take a summer term, I’m going straight into college in May.

Any advice would be great

Viajando a Yucatán

Tapering off of Sertraline vision side effect

Currently tapering off of sertraline since mid May. Currently on a 27mg dose (originally 50mg). Really frustrated because I keep getting bad vision side effects. My vision temporarily worsens/becomes blurry. I wear glasses when I drive so when my vision changes I can’t wear my glasses because of how weird it becomes. Anyone else have this?

Where to study

Looking for where to study on weekends. The public libraries (my go to place) close really early and I would really rather not go to the UW campus. I guess looking for coffee shops or other spots I could go study in the middle of the day/later in the day?

Red bump on my cheek: don’t think it’s a pimple (doesn’t have center) feels solid underneath and slightly painful to the touch. When warm compress applied it temporarily flattens down but then pops back up eventually

Hi everyone, this bump showed up on my cheek below my eye a few days ago. It’s a small dot and it’s placed high on my cheek, under my eye. it does not have a white or yellow center. it appeared over night. the surrounding skin is not swollen. the dot is painful to the touch, although I believe the pain has gone down over the couple days it has appeared. it feels solid underneath. when I put a compress on it or put pressure on it it temporarily becomes flatter looking but still with a solid middle. it then pops back up eventually. Originally I thought it was a weird bug bite but it didn’t go away and it has a solid middle.

I’ve been putting a warm compress on it every day and some salicylic acid in the morning and before bed.

Please help idk what this is 😔

Development of words across Latin America

Why do some countries in Latin America have completely different words for one object or share one word but different meaning?

For example (the long fought over war) “straw” is said differently in different countries:

“Popote” - Mexico
“Pitillo” - Colombia/Venezuela
“Absorbente” - Cuba
“Bombilla” - Chile/Bolivia
“Cañita” - Perú
“Sorbete/o” -Ecuador/Argentina/PR
“Pajilla” - Costa Rica/Guatemala
“Calimete” - DR
“Carrizo” - Panamá

Yet some of these words have double meaning, for example in Mexico “pajilla” means masturbation and “pitillo” means penis.

So what happened here?

Similar with the word “coger” /koˈxeɾ/

In countries like Spain and Colombia it means “to grab”, “to take”. In other countries, like in Mexico, it means “to have sex”.

What?

Has anyone taken these courses?

HIST3260 - Cinema and the Moving Image
EURO3300 - Violence & Culture in Europe
PHIL3370 - Ethics of Artificial Intelligence
HIST3310 - Disease and History
HIST3640 - Madness and Psychiatry

I need to take a course (any subject) at the 3000 level and this morning when I went to register the course I had planned to take was cancelled. Not filled up, they just fully cancelled the course. So now I’m scrambling trying to find a replacement.

What was the course load for these? Thoughts/opinions
